Statement from Bishop Malcolm supporting the Joint Church School

Following the decision on 19 March 2008 by the governing body of St Mary’s Catholic High School to move towards the creation of a new Joint Church School, I am pleased to add my full support to this proposal and look forward to working with the Diocese of Lincoln to make the proposal a reality.

In my opinion the Joint Church School will offer something distinctive and unique to the education provision in North East Lincolnshire whilst at the same time securing the future of Catholic education within this Christian framework. The benefits of such an education to the young people of North East Lincolnshire are clear in the excellent work currently being done at St Mary’s High School and the benefits of a new state of the art school can only develop and extend these benefits for future generations.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Catholic population of North East Lincolnshire for their consideration so far and ask them to put their full support behind the new school.
