![]() In 2008 St Mary’s Catholic School and the Goshen Adventist Secondary School took the first steps in establishing a permanent link between the schools. James Stewart an ex-student of St Mary’s Catholic School currently studying for a degree at Hull University has spent the last two summers working voluntary at the school supporting various subjects including English and Science. The school boasts a role of approximately 120 secondary students but has a similar primary school attached. In early 2008 James approached St Mary’s Catholic School to seek support for fundraising to supply some basic science equipment. James introduced the school to the student body during a whole school assembly and we agreed to hold a non-uniform day and other events to raise some funds. James collected £350 in June 2008 before flying out to Borneo. The staff also managed to raise £400 through their effors in performing "Murdered by the Lift Shaft" which will also go to this worthy cause. Year 10 students are currently discussing how the link can be developed and are busy preparing a display for the school. Students are currently exploring the possibility of a web link and are planning a joint liturgy to be celebrated at both schools simultaneously. This would work irrespective of the time differences! Find raising will be vital and the staff have already organised a stunning (1 night only) murder mystery play to begin fund raising for a new roof for some classrooms within the school. We are awaiting James to make contact from Borneo and will update this site soon. Poland We are currently exploring the possible links to two Polish schools and I hope to add further information soon.
