Key Stage 4 The GCSE Art and Design is a lively, creative and inspiring course to follow. Students will have the opportunity to develop their ideas using a wide range of media, processes and techniques. They will be able to analyse and evaluate images whilst developing their own knowledge and understanding of a vast array of creative approaches within Two and Three Dimensional outcomes. Students will also be able to record from direct observation and experience whilst developing their own personal response to a project or theme. Suggested areas of study may include; Sculpture, (wire, paper, plaster, found objects, card construction) Ceramics, Assemblage, Textile Art, Fashion and Construction, Collage, Printmaking, Photography, Painting, Mixed Media and Drawing. The GCSE course comprises of the following elements: Coursework including the Sketchbook and Artist Research 60%. Final Controlled Test 40%. Students will enjoy a rich and diverse study of Art and Design and will develop the necessary creative skills to progress to other higher Art and Design courses with the acquisition of the necessary practical skills and knowledge.
